What You’ll Learn:
The iliopsoas—made up of the psoas major, psoas minor, and the iliacus muscles—connects the lumbar spine to the femur, playing a crucial role in stability, movement, and posture. Functionally the illiopsoas is the primary hip flexor, allowing you to lift your legs, walk, and transition between sitting and standing. Despite its importance, it is often misunderstood in yoga.
In this class, Judith Hanson Lasater, Ph.D., master teacher and physical therapist, unpacks the myths about the iliopsoas, helping you develop a more embodied relationship with this essential muscle group. This session is hosted by Judith’s daughter, yoga content creator Lizzie Lasater.
